Sam Dobney Appointed Youngest Partner

Sam Dobney has joined leading national chartered surveying firm Bruton Knowles, moving from his position as Senior Chartered Surveyor at Ardent Infrastructure and Regeneration.

Sam has been appointed as Partner, the youngest in the firm, joining the National Utilities and Infrastructure Team. He brings with him considerable experience, having been involved in projects such as East West Rail, HS2, as well as housing regeneration schemes in London and across the UK.

Since starting at Bruton Knowles, Sam has already picked up a variety of new projects including helping obtain consent orders for the National Grid, securing works and access agreements for Network Rail, and acting as an expert witness for a compulsory purchase order in Manchester.

Sam said: “Having worked at several leading compulsory purchase practises over the last decade, I have always been aware of Bruton Knowles and their reputation, their clients, and Nigel Billingsley, Head of the Utilities and Infrastructure Team. I knew they were a reputable firm and work on many exciting projects, so to become a Partner at such a firm was something I wanted to pursue.”

Nigel added: “It’s great to have Sam on board, he has already shown that he is a vital member of the team, bringing in fresh ideas and working alongside clients to meet their needs.

“It’s clear that Sam is passionate about both his role and the wider industry, which can be seen through his dedication to training and customer service, we can’t wait to see him prosper in his future, here at Bruton Knowles.

“Sam has a lot to bring to Bruton Knowles and is incredibly passionate about bringing in and training the next generation of surveyors, especially when the industry is struggling for recruitment.”

Sam continues: “Part of my job that I find incredibly important, is continuing to help grow and develop a strong, flexible team that has the capability of dealing with a variety of CPO issues, and part of this can be done by training the next generation of surveyors.

“The surveying industry is currently struggling to obtain and retain specially trained individuals who can take on the complex work that comes through to us on a day-to-day basis, I want to show them that the work is extremely rewarding when projects are completed to a high standard.

“This is why I provide continuous professional development for a few companies; I currently sit on a sub-committee for the Compulsory Purchase Association, who provide professional training to workers in the industry, and we promote a younger and diverse workforce.”
